How do we do this? Meet the man behind our innovations, Miele’s Head of Design, Mr. Andreas Enslin, who helps bring every Miele design to life.

Mr. Enslin studied industrial design in Munich and founded a design agency together with two partners whilst still at university. Since 2005, he has been Head of the Miele Design Centre and its 40-strong team.

In this video (above) created by Miele in the lead up to the World Architecture Festival in Amsterdam, Mr. Enslin speaks about how he finds inspiration in the everyday and through his favourite pastime, sailing, believing that being in a new environment is the key to inspiring yourself to push your limits further.

“My daily routine these days revolves a lot around leadership and organisation. It helps me to have the experience of doing something for myself again. Sailing in particular offers an experience for oneself. Where are my limits? Where do my skills lie, my opportunities?”, says Mr. Enslin.

“We are premium manufacturers, which means that our designers have to meet our users’ expectations when it comes to user experience.”

“It’s this design of an experience which makes our products usable in everyday life.” 

“We are designing the relationship between the customer and the product. We explain something unfamiliar to people who are looking to solve a problem, but don’t necessarily know how. I’m already looking forward to the future, to seeing what else is possible.”
