Find out why architects and developers are choosing Miele for inner-city projects

The next time you are browsing real estate and urban development apps online, it’s safe to say that you will come across a description that goes something like this:

  • Prime location with prestigious views and proximity to everything you need
  • Boutique collection of spacious residences with sprawling terraces
  • High quality finishes with designer fixtures and fittings
  • State of the art Miele appliances

Not only has Miele become the brand of choice for architects and developers creating high-quality inner-city developments, but it has become the expectation and motivation for many potential buyers. So, what makes Miele the brand of choice for developers, architects and buyers alike and what are some recent projects to keep an eye on? Let’s find out.

A professional partner

Miele has been working successfully in the international project sector for more than 20 years and brings the experience and strength of a premium brand. We take inspiration from Oscar Wilde, who said: “I have the simplest of tastes. I am always satisfied with the best”. This is the principle on which our new built-in kitchen appliances are based: a strikingly clear design with no distracting features – and absolutely no complicated controls.

For new developments, Miele’s experienced Project Business division focuses on the needs of architects, interior designers, project developers and investors; becoming a professional partner for fitting properties with premium built-in kitchen or laundry appliances.

Projects begin with Miele working directly with architects and developers initially, before collaborating on product selection, and determining how many products and appliances will be required. Once a builder is appointed, Miele then works with the builder to deliver the appliances to the site in stages, and eventually new residents are able to enjoy their state-of-the-art new spaces.

A shared commitment to quality & sustainability

As a family-owned company since 1899, our commitment to quality, durability, performance, ease of use, sustainability, design and service, has become synonymous with Miele. In our 120+ year history, we have remained true to our guiding principle ‘Immer Besser – Forever Better’, striving to build appliances that are not only high performing but can stand the test of time and provide the ultimate in terms of sustainability and longevity.

This approach to ‘Immer Besser – Forever Better’ has long resonated with household names in the property game, including Hickory and ProBuild. Similarly, architects and Miele have long-standing partnerships based on a mutual understanding of quality and longevity.

Superior architecture and Miele appliances are perfectly matched in this sense, and achieve excellent performance in first-class residential properties. Together with renowned architects and property developers, Miele has been meeting, and exceeding, the rising demands of Australasia’s booming housing market.

“Miele appliances add that real touch of refinement. The appliances are a huge feature when selling apartments. Being able to say Miele appliances were being used really showed purchasers that we were striving to create something unique, luxury and different. A huge drawcard for a number of buyers, we have not had a single purchaser unhappy with the appliances.” – Harry Lewis, Development Manager for Halsey Capital Limited (as quoted for Harvey Norman)

Buyers want quality and reliability

As much as developers and architects love quality, they also respond to the demands of the market and buyers consistently, and increasingly, want quality, reputation, and the best technology in their home appliances. Buyers of new developments also want reliability, convenience and service – and for that, you can’t go past Miele.

Miele products can be found in homes the world over – be they individual houses or apartment blocks, as well as in luxury hotels, hospitals and even on cruise ships. That’s because, when it comes to equipping high-quality spaces, the Miele Project Business division offers premium-level solutions.

With networked domestic appliances that increase convenience and safety, and make everyday life efficient, as well as an in-house service team and dozens of vans on the road each day, we are proud to be the most sought-after brand in the industry.

New developments crowned with the Miele touch

Australia 108

An exciting project, completed in December 2020, is Australia 108 – officially Melbourne’s tallest residential tower. Soaring 319 metres high, this new premium residence by architect Fender Katsalidis, developer World Class Global, interiors by Carr Design and built by Multiplex comes complete with over 3,600 state of the art Miele appliances.

Built over five years, and piercing the clouds at level 91, Australia 108 was created with luxury in mind. Envisioned as a ‘queen,’ the building shimmers with an appropriately majestic colour palette – a luxurious hotel-style scheme with an understated materiality of rich natural textures.

The 1 & 2 bedrooms apartments at this prestigious Melbourne address come complete with a Miele H2265-1B oven, DA 2450 rangehood, KM 362-1 G cooktop and G 4203 dishwasher, each chosen for their simple intelligence and strikingly clear design.

For Australia 108’s sub penthouse and penthouse apartments, developers chose Miele’s H 2860 BP and H 7890 BP ovens, the KM 3034-1 G and KM 7464 FL, ESW 7010 Obsidian Black Gourmet warming drawer as well as the KFNS 37432 iD and the KWT 6321 UG built under wine conditioner –  the ultimate in enjoyment, entertaining and elegance.

The International

Another new development sparkling with Miele’s state of the art appliances is Sanctuary Group’s The International in downtown Auckland, NZ. Comprising 88 luxury residential apartments rising above the historical Grand Hotel façade, this development by Gary Groves is now home to New Zealand’s finest sports stars, film-makers, business leaders, lawyers, young professionals, and empty nesters.

Features range from built in cooking, refrigeration, dishwashing, laundry, rangehoods, built-in wine conditioners and cooktops with no expense spared. Crafted by internationally-renowned architect Rufus Knight, each fresh, contemporary interior boasts only the highest quality furnishings and fittings — including glistening Miele appliances.

Yarra One

Completed in 2020, new EcoWorld International development Yarra One has fast become one of Melbourne’s most refined addresses for a life of singular quality and unparalleled service. Designed by the visionary Fender Katsalidis and built by Hickory. These richly textured residences come complete with breathtaking panoramic views and luxurious amenities including over 1000 Miele appliances.

Combining rectilinear forms and curves to create a unique architectural expression on the South Yarra skyline, Yarra One and Miele are a match made in heaven with all 1 & 2 bedrooms apartments coming complete with our sleek H 2860 B, DA 2450, KM 7200 FR induction cooktop and G 5053 SCVi fully-integrated dishwasher for that elegant apartment look.

Our PureLine range, in particular, is understated. It can easily be integrated as a design element into a modern kitchen where the focus is on a minimalist range of materials. The high proportion of glass in the PureLine design creates a calm feeling. Horizontal stainless-steel elements and an eye-catching handle which almost appears to float above the jet-black glass are characteristic features of these appliances.

Therefore, in the sub-penthouse and penthouse apartments, developers worked with Miele to choose our powerful DA 2578 built-in rangehood, H 2860 BP cleansteel pyrolytic CleanSteel oven, KM 7575 FL induction cooktop and offering residents the option of M 7244 TC microwave oven or the DGC 7840 XL combi steam oven – both exceptional choices for form and function.

30 Madden

In collaboration between developers Willis Bond, architects Studio Pacific Architecture and construction partner LT McGuinness, comes ‘30 Madden’ a spectacular new Auckland development comprising 150 residences, private parking facilities and ground floor retail and hospitality spaces. Complete with appliances from Miele’s range of built-in cooking, refrigeration, dishwashing, laundry, rangehoods, built-in wine conditioners, and cooktops – 30 Madden showcases the very best of what Auckland has to offer.

Targeting a Homestar 7 rating for sustainability and energy efficiency, installing sustainable appliances that would stand the test of time was of paramount importance for Willis Bond. It seems that property developers, architects and facility managers, are increasingly interested in product manufacturers who prioritise quality and durable products with low maintenance.

When designing kitchens or laundry spaces for apartments and new builds, installing Miele appliances is seen as profitable in the long run because we are the only company in the industry to test our appliances for a service life of up to twenty years.

Thank you to these developers and architects for specifying Miele for their projects. If you’re keen to venture beyond Australiasian shores, and discover selected projects featuring Miele around the world from the most exclusive apartments in Hong Kong, historic ‘Palais’ in Vienna or the largest plus-energy house in Europe, you can do so at the click of a button with Miele PLACES.
